Armed forces foil 2,215 illegal immigration attempts in September – Armed Forces

CAIRO, Oct 12 (Aswat Masriya) – The armed forces released a statement Monday on the results of a security campaign against illegal immigration as well as arms and drugs smuggling in September.

A total of 2,215 people were arrested while attempting to illegally immigrate through the west and north-west ports of Egypt, said the statement.

It pointed out that illegal immigration attempts of people from different nationalities were recorded in Siwa, al-Salloum, Marsa Matrouh, Abu-Kir, Alexandria, Rasheed and el-Borrollos in Kafr el-Sheikh province.

He added that 1,067 weapons and 786 pieces of ammunition were seized in the areas of Portsaid, Matrouh, al-Salloum, Siwa and al-Bayouti in the Western Desert.

Approximatley 10.5 tonnes of drugs and 8.8 million tamoul and tramadol pills were also seized in a nationwide anti-drug campaign.
