Hundreds of demonstrators took part in a protest at al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque in Alexandria on Friday to demand toppling President Mohamed Mursi and holding early presidential elections.

Some protesters held red cards while chanting anti-Mursi slogans.

"The absence of masses at al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque today is the calm before the storm ... we are now focusing our efforts on preparations for June 30," activist Abeer Youssef said.

The participants also lifted banners denouncing the electricity and water cuts crises.
