CAIRO, Aug 6 (Aswat Masriya) - A woman was killed and two other people were injured in an exchange of fire between security forces and unidentified gunmen at a Rafah checkpoint in North Sinai on Wednesday.

Security forces shot at a group of gunmen who were targeting the checkpoint in west Rafah, army sources said. 

The armed forces have been launching crackdowns in various cities to arrest militant extremists that target police and army elements in Sinai since former President Mohamed Mursi's ouster in July 2013.

On Tuesday, the armed forces killed three “terrorists” in crossfire and arrested 11 wanted personnel, according to a statement by the armed forces spokesman.
