An Egyptian prosecutor ordered on Saturday that Mohamed Mostafa Ahmed Abdel Ghany, 20, be detained for 15 days pending investigations into allegations that he committed attempted murder and possession of arms.

Investigations have revealed that the victim, Khaled Dawoud, the official spokesman of the liberal National Salvation Front, was headed to Maadi from his Mohandseen residence in his car on Friday when he was attacked by supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi.

The attackers also destroyed Dawoud’s car before stabbing him in the chest and the wrist and beating him.

All but one of the attackers escaped after the incident.

So far, the detained suspect has denied all charges even though Dawoud was able to identify him as one of the attackers before entering the operations room.
