Police disband pro-Brotherhood protest in Cairo's Nasr City

CAIRO, Feb 14 (Aswat Masriya) - Clashes broke out in Cairo's Nasr City on Friday when police forces attempted to disband a pro-Muslim Brotherhood march on Abbas al-Akkad Street, said an Aswat Masriya witness.
The street is only a few metres away from Rabaa al-Adaweya Square, which witnessed bloody acts of violence last August as security forces cleared out a Muslim Brotherhood camp by force.
The participating protesters flung stones at the police and set car tires alight in an attempt to hinder the march of police vehicles, reported the witness.
Police forces retaliated by firing teargas bombs at the demonstrators to disperse them.
Egypt's Interior Ministry has vowed to break up all demonstrations that did not acquire a permit as per the new demonstrations law.
The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy has urged its supporters to stage new week-long demonstrations starting Friday under the title "Rabaa: Icon of the Revolution".
