CAIRO, May 22 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) plans to visit two detainees who are accused of belonging to a terrorist group, said a statement it issued on Thursday.

Abduallah ElShamy and Mohamed Sultan have both been held under preventive custody and maintained a hunger strike for over 100 days.

NCHR has recieved 133 petitions from public figures, university professors and political leaders that demanded the councils visits them as both are in a detoriating health condition.

ElShamy, who worked for the Qatar-based satellite network Al Jazeera, has been held in solitary confinement in dire conditions, according to a letter sent by Al Jazeera to the U.S. secrertary of state and the EU foreign policy chief.

ElShamy was arrested in August during his reporting of the police disperal of the protest camps set up in support of ousted President Mohamed Mursi.
