CAIRO, Jan 20 (Aswat Masriya) - An officer and two conscripts were injured Tuesday after an explosive device detonated in North Sinai, security sources said.

Security sources told Aswat Masriya that the explosive device was planted on a road south of Sheikh Zuweid. It went off during the passage of an armoured military vehicle.

The injured security personnel were transported to a nearby military hospital to receive treatment while security forces swept the area searching for other explosive devices, security sources said.

Militants have stepped up attacks targeting security forces in Egypt, particularly in the Sinai Peninsula, since the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, which followed mass protests against his rule.

At least 30 military personnel were killed in a suicide blast which targeted a security checkpoint in Sinai's Sheikh Zuweid on October 24, 2014, in the deadliest militant attack since Mursi's ouster.
