CAIRO, Dec 15 (Aswat Masriya) - A Cairo court ordered on Sunday the acquittal of a policeman from killing protesters during the January uprising in 2011.

The court ordered last year the imprisonment of Mohamed al-Sunni for five years after being convicted of killing protesters on January 28, commonly known as the Friday of rage.

The court has ordered Sunni's retrial after he appealed the verdict.

Sunni had received death and life sentences in absentia on charges of killing 18 people before he handed himself in. He is now being retried on all charges.

Toppled president Hosni Mubarak and his Interior Minister Habib al-Adli are being tried for killing around 850 protests and wounding around six thousand others during the uprising days.

Most policemen and officers were acquitted of charges of killing protesters.
