Egypt’s state TV will air proceedings of the court session which will decide the fate of former president Hosni Mubarak next Saturday.
The Egyptian Radio and Television Union’s economic sector decided to set rates for live transmission of the session, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported Tharwat Mekki, head of the union, as saying.
Transmission rates will be 5,000 USD per day for Egyptian satellite channels and between 7,000 and 10,000 USD for Arab and international news agencies, Mekki stated.
“If any Egyptian channel wants to transmit the session with the state TV’s logo, transmission will be for free on condition that the channel sends a request to the union at least 24 hours before the court session,” Mekki added.
He stressed that if any channel transmits the session without the state TV’s approval, it will be sued to protect the rights of the state TV which bears the whole cost of the live transmission technicalities.
The session, headed by Judge Ahmed Refaat, is scheduled to start at 11 am Cairo time on Saturday.
