CAIRO, Dec 2 (Aswat Masriya) – A policeman was shot and killed by unidentified assailants on his way back from work in Assiut on Tuesday, Assuit's security director said.

Tarek Nasr, Assiut's security director, told Aswat Masriya that the body of the deceased was taken to the Sahel Selim Hospital morgue.

Militants have stepped up attacks targeting security forces in Egypt, particularly in the Sinai Peninsula, since the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, which followed mass protests against his rule.
