CAIRO, Aug 14 (Aswat Masriya) - Two citizens were killed and three others were injured in Matariya area of Cairo following clashes between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and police forces on Thursday, Matariya's district prosecutor said.

One of the wounded suffered the loss of his eye and was transferred to Kasr El-Aini hospital, he added.

The victims' families accused the Muslim brotherhood supporters of killing and assaulting their relatives, the prosecutor told Aswat Masriya, calling upon the national security apparatus to investigate the incident to identify the perpetrators.

Earlier on Thursday, an Islamist protester and a policeman were shot dead in Cairo, according to Reuters. A police sergeant was also killed and one person was wounded, when unknown assailants fired at them in Cairo's southern suburb of Helwan, a security source told Aswat Masriya.
