The National Salvation Front - Egypt's main opposition coalition - will meet with members of the Salafi (ultraconservative) Nour Party on Wednesday to discuss an initiative it proposed to end the ongoing wave of violence that the country is witnessing, reported Al-Ahram.

The newspaper did not specify the timing of the meeting or who will be attending it from the two sides.

The Salafi Party, headed by Younes Makhyoun, had proposed an initiative on Tuesday to end Egypt's crisis, including the appointment of a new attorney general and the forgiving of members of Hosni Mubarak's now-dissolved party who were not involved in political or economic corruption.

Hamdeen Sabahi, who is a member of the Salvation Front, welcomed the initiative on his Twitter account, insisting that the Front is willing to consider it with a serious and positive attitude.
