The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party leader, Mohamed Al-Beltagy, has said that he supports the people’s right to demonstrate, as long as it does not disrupt Egypt’s institutions.

Al-Beltagy insisted that he fears the eruption of any more clashes that may lead to deaths, and explained that the people have the right to protect Egypt's institutions.

“The greatest achievement of the revolution was the legitimization of the weapon of peaceful demonstration. However, protests disrupt institutions and cause clashes which often lead to deaths and injuries,” Al-Beltagy said, on his television appearance on ONTV, Tuesday.

“I am against the monopolization of the revolution... when one group claims to speak for the revolution. As long as a demonstration is peaceful, does not disrupt, threaten, burn down or clash, I do not oppose it.”

He added however that “the public has the right to protect the country’s institutions”, explaining that it is only natural for them to fear another bloody scenario like repeatedly occurred throughout the past four months.

Some Muslim Brotherhood supporters blocked marches from reaching the People's Assembly session, Tuesday, which led to clashes that resulted in injuries.

Al-Beltagy argued that all demonstrations that took place from June until the recent bloody "Cabinet" events were “organized to hinder Egypt's democratization process."
