CAIRO, Sept 15 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt demanded that Israel stop its escalation policy against Palestinians by attacking al-Aqsa Mosque and warned against dangerous consequences, in a foreign ministry statement issued on Tuesday.

Israeli forces stormed al-Aqsa Mosque earlier today, for the third day in a row, to force Palestinians out of the mosque and restrict their entry into the holy site, while allowing Jewish settlers in.

Video footage showed Israeli police attacking with stun grenades and chasing Palestinians inside to mosque to forces them out. One Palestinian yelled in warning "There is a sniper on the rooftop, There is a sniper."

Egypt called on the international community and relevant international organisations to take responsibility for securing scared religious sites in the occupied territories of Palestine and to put an end to the ongoing violations.

The site is holy for both Muslims and Jews, who are celebrating the beginning of the new Hebrew year.
