Demonstrations in Mahala on April 6, 2013. Aswat Masriya
A pro-revolution youth movement that played a large role in the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak has begun a sit-in by the presidential palace in solidarity with detained member AbdelRahman Mohsen and other activists.
April 6 spokesman Mostafa al-Hagary said that members intend to continue the sit-in until Tuesday, which marks the set date for Mohsen’s trial.
Hagary told the state news agency that members do not intend to clash with authorities in their sit-in, which began on Sunday evening.
The movement announced last month that five of its members, including Mohsen, were arrested and referred to trial after questioning.
