CAIRO, Sept 4 (Aswat Masriya) - Three Egyptian fishermen have drowned in Libya's territorial water, a foreign ministry spokesperson told Aswat Masriya on Friday.
"A fishing boat that had 16 fishermen on board moved from Kafr al-Sheikh to Liyba. The fishermen were later transferred to two smaller boats owned by a Libyan. One of the boats was lost and the other drowned," Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid said.
Abu Zaid pointed it was hard to communicate with the Libyan authorities as there is no current Egyptian diplomatic representation there.
He added that the foreign ministry has issued tens of warnings for fishermen not to fish in other countries, "especially areas with high risk as the government does not control the seaports."
