Unknown assailants attacked a police station, a border checkpoint and a VIP cafeteria with local-made explosive devices in Sinai's Arish early on Tuesday, causing no casualties, a technical team belonging to the army said.

Earlier reports had initially said that the assailants used rockets.

The attackers were captured after Apache aircrafts chased them, tracked down their movements and eventually located them.

Residents heard an explosion and saw smoke arise from the targeted spots.

Police forces exchanged fire with the gunmen, but no injuries were reported in the confrontations.
