Seven people, including a Central Security General, were injured in clashes between supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Mursi in Sharqiya on Tuesday.

Mohamed Zaky, a member of the Wafd Party’s youth movement, accused members of the Muslim Brotherhood of firing gunshots at protesters in front of the Zagazig Cultural Palace, leading to clashes.

Ahmed Gaber al-Hag from the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, on the other hand, said that members of the Popular Current attacked a minibus carrying FJP members headed to a pro-Mursi demonstration in Zagazig.

The Brotherhood press spokesman added that the demonstration's location was changed from in front of the province office to the Fattah Mosque to avoid confrontations with anti-regime protesters who set up a tent by the office.

General Kamal Hegab received injuries to the head in the clashes during the security forces’ attempt to disperse the rivals.
