Egyptian expatriates will be able to start registering as voters in the upcoming constitutional referendum as of 12 October, said Hisham Mokhtar, the Higher Elections Commission spokesman.

The registration process will continue until December 1 or until the voters are called upon to cast their votes, whichever comes first.

The commission has started working on its tasks and preparing for the referendum, Mokhtar added.

The commission will also form a committee to update the database of Egyptian voters, he stated.

Another committee will be formed to update the database of judges who will oversee the referendum process.
