The National Association for Change on Monday expressed its frustration at the precarious escalation in threats and incitement of the president and the Muslim Brotherhood against opposition leaders and journalists.

The chief prosecutor general ordered the arrest of five activists in light of recent clashes that erupted near the Muslim Brotherhood's headquarters in Cairo's Mokattam district on Friday.

At a press conference held earlier today, spokesman of the association Ahmed Taha al-Naqr held President Mohamed Mursi accountable for the violence that occurred on Sunday at the Media Production City.

Al-Naqr described the Sunday assaults on the freedom of press, media and expression as "unjustified and unprecedented".

Mursi on Sunday threatened to do whatever it takes to maintain the country's security.
