CAIRO, March 31 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's security forces entered Azhar University campus on Monday to combat "riots" caused by students supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, state news agency MENA reported.

"Pro-Brotherhood students staged a protest outside the university's administrative building and attacked the cars parked in the garage next to it. Some of them tried to attack the employees and damage the building," according to MENA.

Two students were killed on Sunday during violent clashes between the security forces and protesters.

The police fired teargas to disperse protesting students who shouted slogans against the police and army, carrying banners saying "down with military rule." They demanded the release of their detained classmates.

Many universities in Egypt have witnessed unrest since the ousting of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last year.

The cabinet decided to allow the presence of police forces outside universities and gave them the authority to verify the identity of people entering campus.
