Tamarod (Rebel) movement has announced its solidarity with satirist Bassem Youssef whose episode was stopped by the CBC channel from going on air on Friday, said the group's founder, Mahmoud Badr.

Badr sasked in a post on his official Facebook page, “If you ban Bassem Youssef from appearing on television, how will you stop him from appearing on Youtube?”

The CBC decided on Friday not to air Youssef’s second episode of his third season, saying that the episode violates the channel’s policies.

Youssef who is known for criticizing the authorities became famous during the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak in 2011.

After reaching over five million viewers on his YouTube channel, the heart-surgeon turned television host was granted his own show on ONTV before moving to the CBC.

After a three-month break that followed the army’s ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, whom Youssef criticized extensively over the past year, the satirist returned last Friday with the first episode of the third season of his show.

In last week’s episode, Youssef made it clear that while he did not support the Mursi administration, he is now opposed to idolizing General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the country’s defense minister who has grown popular over the past few months.

For the past week, Youssef was widely attacked by Sisi's supporters and some legal complaints were filed against him, accusing him of harming the status of the country and spreading chaos.

Youssef was questioned in December over allegations that he insulted the now-deposed president.
