The Wafd Party on Friday expressed its rejection for the National Salvation Front's decision to contest the coming parliamentary elections.

The party urged its higher board to convene to discuss the possibility of al-Wafd's withdrawal from the oppositionist front.

At this timing and in light of the current state of affairs, this decision aborts attempts for national consensus, the media office of the party's head, al-Sayed al-Badawi, wrote on the party's Facebook page.

The party described the front's decision to contest the elections as "an unacceptable defeat from the opposition and a submission to tyrannical decisions which the regime made".
