Egypt's economy ministers met with Prime Minister Hisham Kandil on Sunday to discuss the International Monetary Fund's loan developments and revise budget deficit control measures.

Egypt is trying to secure a $4.8 billion loan from the IMF to aid its struggling economy.

The central bank governor, the industry and external trade minister, the oil minister, the finance minister and the planning and international cooperation minister all attended the meeting.

The ministers discussed a number of measures to improve the investment environment, support exports and provide guarantees for transparency, the state-owned news agency MENA reported.

The discussions also considered a number of problems facing local and foreign investments and ways to solve them.

The meeting reviewed the outcome of Kandil's visit to Turkey and his participation in the annual European Reconstruction and Development Bank summit.

Egypt is going through a tough economic crisis as two years of political instability have taken a toll on the country and exhausted its foreign reserves.
