Egypt's Interim President Adli Mansour issued a constitutional declaration dissolving the Shura Council on Friday.

Mansour also appointed Major General Mohamed Farid al-Tohami as the new head of intelligence.

The president also dismissed Egypt's head of intelligence Mohamed Raafat Shehata and appointed him as a presidential security advisor.

Mansour took the oath of office as interim head of state two days ago after the army deposed Islamist president Mohamed Mursi, who was elected last year in the country's first democratic elections.
