Sisi stresses the importance of voting in coming elections

 CAIRO, Oct 4 (Aswat Masriya)- In a televised speech marking the October 6 1973 victory over Israel MondayPresident Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed the importance of the upcoming parliamentary elections and said that there was no relationship between Cabinet's resignation last month and the elections.

Former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb's cabinet resigned in September, the current cabinet is led by former Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail.

Sisi said that the current cabinet will present a program to parliament for approval and urged Egyptians to vote in the coming parliamentary elections which kick off on Oct. 17.

He said that Egypt's ultimate concern is for security and stability in all countries around the world and that it Egypt does not interfere or conspire against any country.

After a reference to the events of June 30, 2013 when Sisi ousted democratically-elected President Mohamed Morsi following protests against his rule, he said that no president can stay in office against the people's will.

He also referred to his meetings with heads of state and governments in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, explaining that they "understood the situation in Egypt" and expressed willingness to cooperate.
