Cairo, Dec 13 (Aswat Masriya) - Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi will testify in the retrial of former President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday, said Judge Mahmoud Kamel al-Rashidi, head of the North Cairo Criminal Court.

Former Minister of Defence Tantawi did not tell the court that he will not attend the trial, which means that he will attend the court session set to take place at the Police Academy in New Cairo unless adverse weather conditions postpone the session.

The court will reveal the contents of witnesses’ testimonies given in closed sessions without compromising national security, Judge Rashidi added.

The court is hearing a retrial of Mubarak, his two sons, his Interior Minister Habib al-Adli and six of Adli’s aides on charges of murdering protesters during the January 2011 uprising and profiteering.

Mubarak stepped down on 11 February 2011 after a popular uprising against him and his government.
