CAIRO, Jan 27 (Aswat Masriya) - Seven security personnel and one citizen were injured in a blast near a security checkpoint in Qalyubia late Tuesday, the Health Ministry said.

The ministry said in a statement that all those injured were transferred to hospital.

Violence erupted nationwide starting Saturday, ahead of the fourth anniversary of the January 2011 uprising which toppled the regime of former President Hosni Mubarak. The anniversary day, Sunday, was marred by violence, with at least 23 reported deaths nationwide.

Several explosions have been reported nationwide since then. Tuesday alone witnessed at least three separate explosions.

Earlier on Tuesday, a car carrying an explosive device exploded in the vicinity of a police station in the coastal city of Alexandria, killing one of the passengers and injuring two others.

Security forces also evacuated a building at the Heliopolis Court on Tuesday after finding two explosive devices in its vicinity, a security official said.
