CAIRO, June 13 (Aswat Masriya) - A police officer was killed on Friday as security forces dispersed a Muslim Brotherhood march in Cairo's Maadi, Egypt's Interior Ministry said.
On its Facebook page, the ministry stated that about 50 people belonging to the Brotherhood had rallied in Hada'eq al-Maadi.
Police forces successfully dispersed the crowds.
Officer Ahmed Shalabi was escorting a rioter who was arrested during the protest dispersal when he was shot in the chest, the statement explained.
The shot came from the roof of a nearby building, it added.
Shalabi died upon arrival at the hospital.
The ministry said that security forces are currently sweeping the area to arrest the perpetrators.
In a separate incident, a police officer was shot in the foot earlier today in clashes that occurred during a pro-Muslim Brotherhood march city in Sharqiya, an Aswat Masriya witness said.
The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy had called on its supporters to stage week-long rallies.
