A Cairo court retracted a verdict sentencing Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim to two years in prison and removing him from his post after reconciliation with the plaintiffs.

The court has issued its verdict against the Interior Minister for failing to implement an earlier verdict that obliged him to pay compensation to two former political prisoners, who were wrongfully detained.

The plaintiffs withdrew their lawsuit after the minister paid each of them the 25,000 Egyptian pounds compensation.
