CAIRO, Dec 3 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian authorities arrested political activist Ahmed Douma early on Tuesday, he said on his Twitter account, adding that it is still unclear what he was arrested for.

The general prosecution ordered the arrest of activists Alaa Abdel Fattah and Ahmed Maher last week for questioning over allegations that they called for a demonstration without permit.

A new protest law requires activists to obtain a permit from the authorities three days prior to rallying.

A demonstration held by the Shura Council last Tuesday was dispersed by security forces and tens of activists were arrested for violating the new protest law.
