CAIRO, Jan 16 (Aswat Masriya) A student was shot dead and four were injured during clashes at Cairo University on Thursday, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

According to the Interior Ministry, the clashes have erupted before the police arrived to the university’s campus.

"The forces went to Cairo University to control the clashes inside and around campus," said the statement published on the ministry's Facebook page.

Mohamed Kabish, Dean of Faculty of Law, told a satellite news channel that "students supporting the Muslim Brotherhood attacked his office and destroyed it amid the absence of police."
