CAIRO, June 7 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian court referred the files of 10 alleged Muslim Brotherhood supporters to the Grand Mufti on Saturday over cutting Qaliub Road last July.

The court will announce the final verdict on July 5.

Referral of files to the Mufti is a procedural step taken to decide whether or not a defendant may be sentenced to death.

Among the defendants is Salafist (ultraconservative) preacher Mohamed Abdel Maqsud.

The defendants were accused of disturbing public order with the purpose of committing crimes that include attacking persons and vandalizing public and private property.

They were also accused of intimidating on-duty security forces violently and forcibly while while possessing firearms and weapons.
