CAIRO, April 12 (Aswat Masriya) - A Cairo criminal court has sentenced Salafi Preacher Hazem Salah Abu Ismail to one year in jail with labour for insulting the judiciary while on trial.

Abu Ismail is being tried on charges of falsifying documents about his mother's nationality during the 2012 presidential election nominations.

Abu Ismail claimed that his mother, who turned out to have the American citizenship, only has the Egyptian citizenship.

Judge Mohamed Shereen Fahmi, head of the court, dismissed Abu Ismail from Saturday's sessions after the latter had objected to the lawyer tasked with defending him.

The trial was adjourned to 16 April.

Abu Ismail was previously sentenced to one year in jail with labour for insulting the judiciary last January.
