Protesters flocked to Tahrir Square and the presidential palace in Cairo on Friday morning to demonstrate against President Mohamed Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The demonstrators set up a total of eight tents in the area surrounding the palace, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) correspondent reported.

Around eight central security vehicles, two armoured vehicles and two fire engines were deployed near one gate at the palace, the correspondent added.

Three winches sealed off all the palace’s gates except one with concrete blocks, the news agency said.

In Tahrir Square, dozens of demonstrators gathered at the only platform in the square near Mohamed Mahmoud Street, MENA reported.
