Fourteen extremists killed, 23 arrested in Sinai – army

CAIRO, Feb 24 (Aswat Masriya) Fourteen extremists have been killed and 23 arrested in recent security operations in Sinai, Egypt’s army spokesman said.
Egypt has stepped up security in the lawless peninsula since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.
Attacks on security personnel have increased since Mursi’s ouster.
Egypt’s army ousted Mursi last year in response to mass demonstrations against his rule.
