Anti-Mursi protesters in Alexandria clashed with unknown persons in Somouha's Victor Emmanuel Square on Friday, an Aswat Masriya eyewitness reported.

Security forces intervened to disperse the two parties after the unknown group of people attacked the anti-Mursi demonstration, the eyewitness said.

The unknown attackers exchanged empty bottles and stones with opponents of President Mohamed Mursi.

Central security forces tear-gassed both parties to disperse them metres away from Alexandria's security directory.

Anti-Muslim Brotherhood protesters marched from al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque to Victor Emmanuel Square to denounce what they called the "Brotherhoodisation" of the state.

Political activist Ahmed al-Sheikh said that Muslim Brotherhood supporters attacked the protesters for the second Friday in a row and intercepted their peaceful march.

Unknown assailants attacked demonstrators marching against the Muslim Brotherhood and Mursi last Friday in Sidi Gaber and Somouha.

Some members of political powers confirmed that last week's assailants belonged to the brotherhood.

"They do not want us to come anywhere near Sidi Gaber," Ahmed al-Sayed, one of the demonstrators in today's march, said.
