Egypt's Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi held a joint meeting on Saturday with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and European Union envoy Bernadino León to discuss recent developments.

A foreign ministry spokesman said that Fahmi conveyed the government's view of internal developments, reiterating its commitment to the roadmap set forth by the army following the ouster of  President Mohamed Mursi on July 3.

Fahmi pointed the government's readiness to receive foreign delegations and hear their views on the issue, stressing that the final decision regarding Egypt's internal affairs is only up to the government, reported the state news agency.

He added that the goverment makes its decision according to the will of the people and the best interest of the country and its citizens whilst confronting acts of inticement to violence and terror.

The foreign minister stressed that the government was committed to "working to achieve national reconciliation with the participation of all political parties without exception as long as they are peaceful, renounce violence and avoid incitement."

The U.S. and EU diplomats stressed that Egypt's future must be decided by the Egyptian people without any foreign interference.

They added that their visits were aimed to provide any possible help to end the current state of polarization," the ministry statement added.

Fahmi quoted the two foreign diplomats as saying that their visit to Egypt comes "to persuade all parties to halt all forms of incitement and violence and to move towards national reconciliation and an inclusive political process to help the country face challenges."

Burns, who is on his second visit to Cairo since Mursi was deposed, is also scheduled to meet leaders of the Islamist parties coalition that supports Mursi, the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy.
