CAIRO, Feb 16 (Aswat MAsriya) - The secretariat of the Leftist Tagamoa Party has said that the party will not present a presidential candidate and will back Defence Minister, Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's presidential bid.
A party statement cited public support for Sisi as "fairly expressive of the response to all efforts exerted for a national democratic civil state".
Popular campaigns have been urging Sisi to run for presidency, yet Sisi has not announced his decision yet.
In 2012, the Tagamoa Party presented Hisham al-Bastawisi as its presidential nominee. In the first round, Bastawisi won around 30 thousand votes while former President Mohamed Mursi got a little under six million votes.
