Egypt's cabinet said it has started drafting a document for an economic road map to formulate a strategic vision of the country's future and make timetables for short and long-term projects.

In a meeting headed by Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawi on Monday, the cabinet agreed that the document should pertain to the current economic situation and the biggest challenges of this phase.

The document would also create an economic and social vision for short and long-term plans to secure energy sources and supplies and to boost investment opportunities and combat unemployment.

The document, which is expected to be ready by the end of August, will take into account social justice by not imposing more taxes and caring for low-income individuals, a statement on the cabinet's official Facebook page said.

The prime minister ordered the ministers of planning, finance, and investment to draft the document.

He also recommended finishing all infrastructure projects swiftly and working on stabilizing the balance of payments.

Among the meeting's attendees were the ministers of tourism, electricity and energy, communications and information technology, transport, trade and industry, investment, planning, civil aviation, supply and internal trade, and housing.
