CAIRO, Dec 9 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's ministry of education has decided to take over 62 schools owned by members of the Muslim Brotherhood within this week, said state-owned newspaper al-Ahram on Monday.

The privately-owned schools are scattered across Egypt in ten different governorates.

A Cairo court ordered banning the Brotherhood in September following a crackdown on its leading members after the military's ouster of President Mohamed Mursi, who hails from the group, that was prompted by mass protests against his rule.

The group has also won a majority vote in Egypt's two houses of parliament in 2011 and 2012.

Around 85 other schools were ruled out from the decision for being owned by several people, even though one or more of the owners belong to the Brotherhood.

Ministry officials have set meetings to recommend new headmasters for the confiscated schools and choose members of administration boards from parents and teachers.
