CAIRO, Feb 9 (Aswat Masriya) Eight Egyptians died in a hotel fire in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Madina Al-Munawara on Saturday, said Ambassador Adel Al-Alfy, the Consul of Egypt in Jeddah.

Alfy told the state news agency that the total amount of those who died is 13, including eight Egyptians, one Algerian, one British and three unidentified.

All the deaths were a result of suffocation from a fire at Ishraf Hotel that investigations have revealed was caused by a short circuit.

In two separate statements, Egyptian President Adli Mansour and Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawi mourned the victims of the fire late on Saturday.
