Egypt’s presidency deals with Amnesty International with the utmost respect since the human rights issue in Egypt is a vital one and is a product of the great January 25 revolution, presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said on Wednesday.

The dignity of the Egyptian citizen is a major part of the president’s program, Ali said in a statement the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported today.

Some of the remarks included in the organization’s latest report will be studied, Ali stated.

The presidency is very understanding and seeks to abolish all forms of discrimination in the Egyptian society and abuse of citizens’ dignity, he added.

A report Amnesty International issued on Tuesday stated that the interior ministers who headed police forces since the 2011 uprising have repeatedly declared their intention to reform the police apparatus and respect human rights.

Yet there are no reforms at all so far and instead of reform there were attempts to reinstate legislations similar to the emergency law under the name of restoring security, the report added.

The organization stated that violations of human rights included the use of live ammunition against protesters during the transitional phase under the rule of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF).

Police violations have been rampant since the revolution began, the organization added.
