CAIRO, June 30 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian court sentenced on Monday a person for six months in prison and fined him with five thousand pounds on charges of sexually harassing a girl on a railway station platform in Southern Egypt's Minya.

Gihan F., 16, reported the harassment to the transportation police and on account of it Mohamed A., a worker, was arrested.

The victim was waiting for the train on the platform when the defendant offered her money to go with him.

On his side, the defendant confessed to harassing the girl but he said that he did not intend to harm her.

A law introduced by former interim President Adli Mansour last month stated that sexual harassers shall face imprisonment for at least one year and a fine of at least 3,000 Egyptian pounds (419 US Dollar).
