The 50-member committee entrusted with amending Egypt’s constitution decided in its Monday session that amendments to articles would be adopted by a 75 percent approving vote, reported the state-owned news agency.

The committee agreed to settle procedural matters through a simple majority vote, yet regarding controversial articles that do not receive full consensus, the committee would postpone the debate for 24 hours and afterwards make the final decision through a 75 percent vote.

The constitutional panel also decided on delegating one of its members to be responsible for speaking on its behalf and issuing press releases, maintaining that the rest of the members refrain from talking to the media about the progress of their work.

Monday's session, chaired by former presidential candidate Amr Moussa, marks the assembly's second one after the election of its head and his deputies. The assembly is due to finalize the charter and approve it within 60 days after their first session.
