CAIRO, July 17 (Aswat Masriya) -   A defence lawyer in the Tahrir harassment case has questioned police evidence upon which his client was sentenced to life in prison in three different harassment cases.

Amr Mohamed Fahim, 33, is one of nine defendants who have received sentences from 20 years to life in prison over four separate sexual harassment cases.

Seven defendants were sentenced to life while two got 20 years in jail.

"The police were not completely unbiased," Mahmoud Sami Qarni, Fahim's lawyer, has told Aswat Masriya.

Qarni considered that the suspects standing directly before the victims and not in a line of suspects "illegal".

Fahim got three life sentences in three separate harassment cases.

He said that the evidence against his client is very weak and claimed that the pictures taken during the harassment incidents did not show the convicts and did not prove their involvement. 

The lawyer added that the police arrested his client in front of a KFC branch in Tahrir Square when he was not doing anything.

Qarni denounced the conviction of Fahim in three separate cases that happened in three different areas in Tahrir Square at the same time.

"The defendant may have committed one crime but it is impossible he committed the three within such a short span of time," he said.

According to the lawyer, the media magnified the issue and was not objective.

Qarni's team is preparing to appeal the verdict in hopes of annulling it and getting a retrial.

"The court may be right, and it has a point of view that we respect, but we will appeal the verdict."

The defendants were facing charges of harassment, kidnapping and indecent assault in Tahrir Square on June 8, 2014.
