CAIRO, Feb 12 (Aswat Masriya) - Presidential hopeful Hamdeen Sabahi has said that he sought a partnership with Defence Minister Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on a revolutionary election platform, yet he did not get a reassuring promise.

"I sought a partnership between the revolution and the state ... but I did not get any reassuring promise," Sabahi said in an interview with television presenter Yousry Fouda on ON TV on Wednesday.

Last month, Sabahi said that he may withdraw from the presidential race, in case other candidates involve the revolution's principles in their electoral programmes.

Sabahi welcomed Sisi's candidacy for presidency.

"If Field March Sisi wants to nominate himself, I welcome him as a strong candidate who is popular and loved."

Sisi did not yet declare his intention to run for president. But an army statement last January left it up to Sisi to decide whether he will run for president or not.

Sabahi denied that he was pressured by Sisi supporters to run for presidency.
