A senior leader in Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood called on Wednesday for demonstrations in front of the Cabinet Office headquarters to protest the new interim government that was sworn in Tuesday.
The interim cabinet, appointed two weeks after the army deposed the Brotherhood's President Mohamed Mursi, comes according to a "road map" announced by the army aimed at restoring civilian rule.
"Masses will rally outside the Cabinet Office headquarters following noon prayers to showcase that the majority of the people reject the rewarding of coup leaders to their political partners for betraying the principles of democracy," Essam al-Erian said on his Facebook page.
The deputy head of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party described the interim cabinet as illegitimate.
