Egypt’s airport security stopped former football player Samir Sabry from travelling to Turkey on Thursday in response to an order by the authorities.

Sabry, who is known for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, participated in the Rabaa al-Adaweya sit-in for ousted President Mohamed Mursi, reported the state news agency.

The football player was frequently seen at the demonstration and once participated in a match held by Mursi's supporters.

The sit-in was dispersed by security forces earlier this month.
