The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy called on people to rally starting Friday and until Monday when former President Mohamed Mursi's trial is expected to be held.

The trial of Mursi and several Muslim Brotherhood leading figures is scheduled for next Monday.

The charges include inciting violence during clashes between supporters and opponents of the Brotherhood at the presidential palace on December 5. Eleven people, including Journalist al-Husseini Abu Deif, were killed while hundreds were injured in these clashes.

In a statement it has issued, the coalition urged all Egyptians "to rally in protest against these imaginary trials for the country's legitimate president and his companions starting Friday".

The alliance, which groups movements and currents that support Mursi, also called for rallying at a police institute adjacent to Tora Prison, where the trial is expected to take place.

Supporters of Mursi have been staging demonstrations since the former president was deposed last July. 

The alliance held those it called "leaders of the coup" fully accountable for Mursi's safety.

Mursi has been detained at an unknown location since July 3.
